Revealed: the safest airlines in the world for 2025 and the surprising debuts
Aussie carriers soaring to new heights.
Air New Zealand has been crowned the safest airline in the world for 2025.
Qantas placed second while Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways and Emirates tied for third.
Only a slim margin separated Air New Zealand and Qantas on AirlineRatings.com annual safety analysis of 385 airlines.
Virgin and Etihad Airways rounded out the top five.
Iberia and Vietnam Airlines made impressive debuts on the list while Korean Air cracked the top 10 for the first time.
Notable absences this year were Singapore Airlines and KLM.
AirlineRatings.com also released its list of the safest low-cost airlines for 2025. HK Express, followed by Jetsar and Ryanair, came out on top.

Qantas ranked first for safety on 42kft.com's 2025 annual list released in June, followed by Qatar and Air New Zealand.
