Falls Creek, VIC

In a first in the Aussie ski fields, Falls Creek, which has 450 hectares of ski terrain, just unveiled a sculpture to add to the already stupendous views from Cloud 9. Flower of the Alpine Sun (pictured), created by Giovanni Veronesi, blossoms on a viewing platform and celebrates the alpine environment. It will add a touch of sunshine to your ski day, and if you visit it in the afternoon, enjoy the new live apres event at Cloud 9. There is new accommodation this season, with Nelse Lodge re-opening after a five-year renovation and the brand-new Skyline Penthouse Apartments. skifalls.com.au
