From Victoria to the NT, here's the lowdown.

Cold weather is on its way and with it some great reasons to explore country Australia. Embrace the elements in Victoria's Grampians National Park, where Grampians Grape Escape (May 3-5) will dial up the excitement with cooking demonstrations by well-known chefs such as Karen Martini and Matthew Evans, and live performances by bands such as 19-Twenty.

It's an extraordinary way to taste some of the wine region's top drops and also explore scenic trails with dramatic views. Meanwhile, if you're in the mood to escape the cold weather, head to the Northern Territory for Karrimanjbekkan An-me Kakadu or A Taste of Kakadu from May 24-26. Held across Kakadu National Park, it celebrates the timeless culture of the local Bininj people, with top-notch bush tucker. One of the most unforgettable experiences at the festival is the Bowali Under the Stars dinner, created by leading regional chefs, Paul Iskov and Ben Tyler, who will use ingredients foraged in Kakadu to create the feast. grampiansgrapeescape.com.au; parksaustralia.gov.au/kakadu/taste
