I devoured every delicious minute of seasons one and two of The White Lotus television series. Set in fictional hotels in Hawaii and Sicily, the Lotus luxury world is one I want to live in. Today, I get the chance.

Tourism Authority of Thailand and production company HBO confirmed in February that the third season is being filmed in Bangkok, Koh Samui and Phuket. When Bloomberg reported the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui was one of the filming locations, I rushed to make a dinner reservation.

Guided by flaming torches and the primal beat of a drum, we make our way to the sand as the sun sets. The delicious aroma of sizzling chicken satay is an invitation to work up an appetite, while the eyes feast on a buffet of colourful papaya salad, prawn curry, mango sticky rice and so much more.

Overlooking Laem Yai Bay, the resort is a tropical dream, magicked up by famed landscape architect Bill Bensley to feature spectacular villas with private infinity pools and views for days. The resort's KOH Thai Kitchen is destination dining at its best. It was one of the inaugural Koh Samui restaurants of distinction in the Thailand Michelin Guide 2024, the first year Michelin turned the culinary spotlight on the island.

Chef de cuisine "Jeab" Sumalee Khunpet champions authentic southern Thai recipes and flavours, enhanced with the best ingredients from the morning market and around the world. Her cardamom-scented, slow-cooked Australian Wagyu beef in Massaman curry is legendary, and her stir-fried prawns with minced pork and fresh chilli have earned a place on many last-meal wish list.

You don't need to stay at the resort to make a dinner reservation. Nab a table in advance for the popular Tam Rab Thai night, every Tuesday, when an extensive buffet of pan-Thai foods is presented with live cooking stations and local music performances. Trust me, it's worth every Thai baht of the THB 3900 ($160) price tag to live the White Lotus life for one night. fourseasons.com
