Plus, the hottest destinations love birds are searching online.

It's not just solo travel but the concept of self-love is on the rise, too, according to new data from Airbnb, which shows a 100 per cent increase in solo-travel searches for this year's Valentine's Day weekend as compared to data from 2024. The homestays platform has also revealed the destinations solo travellers based in Australia are searching for, with Sydney, Tokyo, Melbourne, Adelaide, Queenstown, Bangkok, Auckland, London, Brisbane and Hakuba in Japan appearing in the top 10 spots. Rio de Janeiro is going from strength to strength, too, recording the highest year-on-year increase in search volume. As for couples? Sydney is the hottest destination for that demographic, too, while Tokyo has recorded the biggest year-on-year spike in popularity.
Meanwhile, Buycycle - a leading online marketplace for used bikes - has put together a list of the world's most romantic cities for couples who enjoy cycling, based on infrastructure and other relevant criteria, with the following cities winning the romantic outdoor-adventure race: Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Budapest, Vienna, New York, Lisbon, Madrid and Rome.
Speaking of outdoor pursuits, tour operators are launching new experiences all over the world with adventure front and centre of mind.

European self-guided walk operator On Foot Holidays has launched a week-long hiking experience through the Gorges du Tarn canyons in the beautiful Cevennes region of southern France; G Adventures is bolstering its active offerings with 25 new trips in lesser-known regions of countries such as Jordan and Morocco; and Gondwana Ecotours is turning up the heat in Central America with the launch of its eight-day Costa Rica: Secluded Wildlife Adventure, which allows travellers to explore the region's rich flora and fauna on foot and by boat. onfootholidays.co.uk; gadventures.com; gondwanaecotours.com
Steep mountains, lush rainforests, gin-clear waters and laidback resorts ... there are many reasons to plan a holiday in tropical Tahiti. But the inaugural Tahiti Yoga Festival - to be held from October 3-6 - is yet another excuse to head to the South Pacific gem.

Le Tahiti by Pearl Resorts - set on a volcanic black-sand-beach, with swaying palms and shimmering pools - has been picked as the venue for the three-day festival, as part of which guests will have access to yoga classes, meditation sessions, enlightening workshops and inspiring lectures by leading wellness practitioners. And if three days seems too short for such a blissful holiday then remember pre- and post-festival immersion packages can be booked, too. tahitiyogafestival.com

Akash is the Deputy Travel Editor for Australian Community Media. He has lived and worked in four cities around the world – Sydney, London, New Delhi and New York – and, at last count, travelled to 42 countries.
My all-time favourite destination is ... New York. You can drop a pin anywhere in Manhattan and start walking in any direction, and the sights and sounds of the city that never stops will begin to stimulate all your senses in an instant.
Next on my bucket list is … Scandinavia - at the peak of summer, when the sun almost never sets.
My top travel tip is … If you’re flying to Sydney from anywhere in the world, pick a window seat far from the wing on the left-hand-side of the aeroplane. If the weather gods and flight path align, you’ll have the most incredible views of the Sydney Harbour and Opera House.
