A writers' festival at sea? Yes, this cruise line is making it happen

While a list of authors hasn't yet been released, the festival promises to feature some of Australia's and New Zealand's leading writers.

When it comes to themed cruises, there's an itinerary for everyone - from food-obsessed excursions and rock festivals at sea to voyages that chase cherry blossoms in Japan and vivid autumn foliage in New England.

But Cunard is about to raise the bar when it comes to special-interest journeys, with its Australian Literature Festival at Sea cruise in 2024. A collaboration between Cunard and Dymocks, the five-day cruise will set sail from Sydney on December 11, 2024, and visit Hobart as part of the itinerary.

And while a list of participating authors hasn't yet been released, Judy Benson of Dymocks says "the festival will feature some of Australia's and New Zealand's leading authors", with thought-provoking talks, interactive workshops and opportunities for guests to develop their writing or illustrating skills.
