The stage is set: Uluru is about to have a moment with a brand-new show

Leading Indigenous artists are behind the new offering.

Imagine taking a seat on a vast platform near Uluru before sunrise and watching an enormous Indigenous artwork come to life on the dark desert sky with state-of-the-art lasers and projections. That is the promise of Sunrise Journeys, an immersive 2.5-hour cultural experience, which will be launched in August by Ayers Rock Resort, celebrating its 40th birthday this year.

"Our hearts burn with passion to share our Country and knowledge with the world," says Denise Brady, one of the three Anangu artists who co-created the artwork Ngura Nganampa Wiu Mulapa (Our Country is Truly Beautiful) with Selina Kulitja and Valerie Brumby.

While the original painting can be viewed at the Gallery of Central Australia in Yulara, it'll be something else to see it projected on the dark sky to a musical score created specially for this show by First Nations artist Jeremy Whiskey. The experience ends with a sumptuous breakfast as the first rays of sun cast their golden glow on the striking-red rock.
