This new wellness spot in the Sunshine State is turning up the heat

Most parts of the Sunshine State offer desirable tropical temperatures year round. But here's another way to turn up the heat even further. Take the waters - ranging between 30 and 40 degrees - at the recently opened Cunnamulla Hot Springs. Located in the outback town of Cunnamulla, the venue features seven geothermal pools, overlooking the Warrego River.

Victoria's famous Peninsula Hot Springs Group is behind the Queensland establishment, which also features a sauna, an underground hammam, a 15cm-deep "moon-viewing pool" in which you can lie on your back and gaze at the dark sky after sunset, as well as a clay and salt area, where you can slather yourself with natural cleansers. "One of the best ways to experience the hot springs is to visit with a bunch of friends," says Charles Davidson, Peninsula Hot Springs founder.
