Fun fact: Zanzibar is not an island. It is an archipelago - a collection of small and large landmasses suspended in the hypnotic-blue Indian Ocean, off the coast of east Africa. One of those tiny specks in the ocean, Mnemba is home to an out-of-this-world andBeyond resort, which has just reopened after a complete revamp.

Check in to one of the property's 12 bandas (traditional Zanzibari thatched homes) where luxury takes new meaning. There are no aircons here, just unsealed windows and doors that allow the soft breeze to flow in - complete with the scent of the ocean - and let Mother Nature do her thing.

Swing open the doors and heavenly beaches and crystal-clear waters are right on your doorstep. AndBeyond resorts in Africa are renowned for being incredible bases for wildlife encounters and this property is no exception: simply put on your snorkelling gear and head to one of the nearby reefs on a boat to get close to colourful marine creatures in no time.

My all-time favourite destination is ... New York. You can drop a pin anywhere in Manhattan and start walking in any direction, and the sights and sounds of the city that never stops will begin to stimulate all your senses in an instant.

Next on my bucket list is … Scandinavia - at the peak of summer, when the sun almost never sets.

My top travel tip is … If you’re flying to Sydney from anywhere in the world, pick a window seat far from the wing on the left-hand-side of the aeroplane. If the weather gods and flight path align, you’ll have the most incredible views of the Sydney Harbour and Opera House.
